I got a lovely 15.4″ MacBook Pro when I came to Linfield, and I promptly installed Bootcamp 1.1 on it. Then I bought an Apple bluetooth keyboard and a Logitech bluetooth mouse, both of which work fine on the Apple side, but not so well on the Windows side. I installed the Logitech software for the mouse and got that to go, finally, but the keyboard is fighting back.

And how come the iSight built in to the laptop won’t work on the Windows side? That sucks!

So far, many of the software packages I’ve installed seem to work ok, but I haven’t truly pushed it since I am limited in disk space – I only gave Windows 20 GBs. More discovery to come!

Would I recommend this to users? Not yet. Why should Windows users be stuck with crapware just so they can get access to Mac software, which is much more limited and expensive than PC software? The hardware isn’t particularly special – it’s a silver slab just like all the PCs are, with good battery life and a reasonable array of ports. I take it home and work on either web apps or some version of Office software (Windows or Mac Microsoft office or Open Office on Windows) most of the time anyway, and I have yet to find a multimedia app that Apple claims top dog status on that I can’t do just as well or better on Windows.
We are on the right path here, though – let’s end the insane platform war once and for all! I’d love to see us get rid of both Windows and Apple OS software and have us all use Linux, but that day is a long way off yet.
